Israel and the Soviet Jewry: 70 Years After the Completion of Golda Meir’s Mission to Moscow

A remarkable date of March 2019 was the 70-s anniversary of the completion of brief but very intensive mission of Golda Meir as the first Israeli envoy to Moscow. Her famous visits to Moscow Horal Synagogue, that provoked a great enthusiasm of the Soviet Jewish public (and negative reactions of the Communist authorities) remains the mostly noted episode of Golda Meir’s activities there. However, many observers believe that in general her mission was a complete failure, whole other historians believe the opposite.
